When buying a lift chair there are several obvious features that you would consider looking at, but do you know everything? Here is a list of specifics to consider when comparing lift chair recliners:
What type of reclining features are you looking for in your chair? (click each for a description)

- Wall hugger/space saver - allows you to place the chair within 4″-6″ from the wall.
- Others typically require 15″-20″ of space
Based on the user, what size chair will you need?
- Petite/small
- Medium (users 5′4″ – 5′10″, usually a 375 lb weight capacity)
- Large (users 5′11″ – 6′2″, usually a 375 lb weight capacity)
- Tall (users 6′2″ – 6′8″, usually a 375 lb weight capacity)
- Wide/XL (users needing a 2″-4″ wider seat, usually a 500 lb. weight capacity)
- Heavy duty/XXL (users needing a 4″ wider seat, usually a 600-700 lb. weight capacity)
What additional options do you want?
- Extra storage pockets for magazines, books, remotes
- Heat and massage option
- A right handed or left handed remote control
- Additional pillows and lumbar supports
- Snack trays, cup holders, etc.
Fabric options
- If you want your lift chair to match the decor you already have you will need to find a fabric option that fits.
- Fabric options include leather, suede, vinyl, and standard fabric.

Both stores are located near you. I have never dealth with either of these stores, so I can’t comment on the service level they will provide. I would, however, recommend that you go check these lift chairs in person, figure out which model works best for you, get an idea of the options you want and the price, then check out the prices for that same item online. Most online stores like spinlife.com will offer better prices and ship the lift chair to your house for free.

Need to purchase a lift chair for my mom. Not researching, I went with what I knew as a named brand and just ordered a “Lancer” lift chair from La-Z-Boy. After researching after the fact of course, I found that Golden Technologies and Pride offer products that may in fact be better. With the infinite position through Golden it seems I can get more for the money since the La-Z-Boy does not offer independent controls for feet and back recliner. What is your take on quality and function on those brands? I can still cancel the La-Z-Boy.

Thank you for visiting thsi blog and my apologies for the delay in response. To answer your question about Pride and Golden Technolgies….well these are the top brands of lift chairs available. Both of these companies specialize in mobility products, so much thought has been put into the designs of the equipment. La-Z-Boy, yes, is a very popular name, but they aren’t mobility specialists. You would likely pay more for their products too.
Regardless, infinite position chairs offer the most flexability and do come with dual motors for the seat back and leg rest. I highly recommed both Pride and Golden Tech for a lift chair purchase. A great company to check out would be liftchairs.com. They have discount coupons available on several lift chair models.
